MAKING OF DPS

Starting to create my double page spread I copied and pasted each paragraph in individual text boxes and realised that there was too much text. I eliminated the last few paragraphs making sure that the article still makes sense.
I also deleted the selected paragraphs below.

I changed the text size to 14 and made the questions Bold.

I used the grid to match the text boxes and makes sure it looks organised and in line.
here is a closer example. I also created space for th quote

I selected a quote, enlarged it and made it in bold.

Next steps is to place the page numbers and title in the corner of the pages.

DPS article

Here is a draft of mu article for my double page spread. I have written it according to the word limit. I havd managed to write this by researching into various styles of interviews. I have posted examples of some of the magazines I analysed. Studying a range of magazines/genres allows me to combine different elements from different magazines to create a unique style perfect for my target audience.

However after trying to fit this text onto my page i realised that that was too much to fit and it would have looked really crowded and unorganised. So after trying to fit it onto my dps i had to delete some paragraphs which weren't as relevant.

Questions for interview with Target audience

I will be interviewing my target audience to see the type of things they would like to see in their ideal Indian music magazine. These questions will help me create something that will be suitable for the people that will be purchasing my music magazine. Their interests and hobbies can be incorporated in  my magazine.

1) What sort of information would you like to get from a music magazine?

2) Do you like to attend music events?

3) Would you like information on upcoming indian music events?

4) Who is your favourite Indian Artist?

5) Is there anything that you find interesting about the indian culture?

The effect of media technology on my music magazine (print vs online)

After researching about print and online i realised that there is a lot of competition and print is disappearing. As Web 2.0 is advancing print has reached the finish line. Print has been developed over hundreds of years and another form of interaction has taken over.

This technology convergence would have effected my music magazine because I planned to create a print version of my music magazine. However, due to the current circumstances and the biggest affect being on my target audience i will have to ensure that it is accessible online aswell.

The sales of androids and iphones have been on the rise and everyday technology is advancing. This only means that people will be adapting new ways and habits. I will have to ensure that i am up to date in providing my audience with interactional services that are easily accessible.

An app is one way of creating an interactional digitial version of my music magazine and accessing information on more than one platform.

I also researched the idea of having a QR code to scan. This is a procedure that will allow my target audience to scan a code using their phone which could automatically download the app or link to the website.

DPS construction

This is a draft look of how i would like my double page spread to look like.
1- I used a lanscape picture that will cover both pages.
2- On the left hand side i created a plain white shape and reduced the opacity to 36%
3- I used the rulers to measure half way across the page and took 2cm off the edge of the square so there is space between the edge of the page and shape
4- I split the text into 2 boxes and made space to insert a quote.

next steps-
I plan to edit the article a little more.
select the quotes to be enlarged
insert page number, name of magazine
author and company
